Camu Camu

Also known as Tumbo, Tasco, Tintin, and Trompos, Curuba, Tauso, and Parcha.

The Camu Camu plant is a shrub with small, round fruits of red/violet colour and white flowers prior to blooming. The plant grows primarily in lagoon areas within the Peruvian Amazon. The Camu Camu bush is able to withstand water submersion for up to 5 months. The inside flesh contains a juicy yet sour taste. The plant is famous for its popularity as a vitamin C substitute, making it more expensive than most tropical fruits. Due to richness in vitamin C, Camu Camu is thought of as a “super fruit” with qualities such as relieving bones, joints, rheumatism, sight, immune system, prevention of illness and skin/hair/fingernail health.
