Amancae

Also known as Amancay and Ismene amancaes.

The Amancae plant grows green, 25-30 centimeter long leaves from its base and a green stem extending up to 33 centimeters high. The flower sits at the top with its petals forming a funnel-like shape with green striped inside. There are additional thin, elongated petals protruding behind. This species can be found in the coastal hills, specifically near Lima. Cultural significance of the plant in Peru can be traced back to before the 1800s. Unfortunately, Amancaes have been considered one of Peru's endangered species of plants since 1997.
